Alert! This Wednesday, April 23rd, is World Book Day – and BOOK SA’s birthday. We’re turning one!
(Reminisce about our launch bash – click here.)
To celebrate, we’re ringing in the changes: introducing a new-look front page at http://bookslive.co.za, and upgrading our network from blogs to web2 microsites.
What’s a web2 microsite? Quite simply, it’s a homepage nested within a community that offers various means of amplifying one’s story – and introducing said story into other, outside networks. It combines the most useful aspects of social networking (i.e., Facebook – but no zombies, we promise) with many of the attractive features of stand-alone websites (i.e., a homepage in addition to a blog; more robust customisation; etc). And it’s fully “web 2.0″ – dynamic, interactive, more visible on the web than traditional sites.
We call it “BOOK SA 2.0″ – it comes straight from BOOK SA Labs (as we’ve named our tiny development division with not a little conceit), and we’re very excited about taking it live on Wednesday. Nothing on the web has been seen quite like it – watch this space!
(PS – To hear more about web 2.0, why not post a query with SA Partridge?)
