World Literacy Day: Centre for the Book Readathon
Alert! Monday, September 8, is International Literacy Day, and Cape Town’s Centre for the Book is putting on a readathon to mark it.
The programme, organised by the Centre’s Nelisa Lunika, kicks off with a finger lunch at 1h30 pm, then launches into two hours-plus of poetry, drama, dance, speeches and storytelling. Entrance is free and all ages are welcome.
Highlights include performances by the Lyrical Base Project (including founder Bulelwa Basse), storytelling with Andrea Dondolo, and a keynote address from Sindiwe Magona.
