Aziz Hassim Launches Revenge of Kali

Revenge of Kali, the new book from the author of the award-winning The Lotus People, was launched at Suncoast Casino in Durban last on 21 July. If anyone has the book’s ISBN, we’d be grateful to see it posted in the comments section below.
Acclaimed Durban author Aziz Hassim has launched his second novel, Revenge of Kali (STE Publishers), a story about the pain and suffering, courage and resistance, resilience and hope experienced by South African Indians in rural and urban Natal.
The new novel follows the success of The Lotus People (2003), which won the Sanlam Award for an unpublished novel and was short-listed for the Sunday Times Literary Award in 2004.
In addition to popcorn and cooldrinks — courtesy of Moosa Moosa and son AB (who was programme director) — guests were fed delicious titbits of information about Hassim (as author, father, mentor and friend) indentured lab-ourers and the Indian diaspora.
These were by Devi Rajab , gender specialist Shireen Hassim (whose advice to her dad that despite his success, he needed a little work on his patriarchy was delightful), academic researcher Raj-endra Chetty , literary expert and family friend Lindy Stiebel and publisher Reedwan Vally.
