Ntsiki Mazwai Launches Wena at the Jozi Book Fair

WenaVocalist Ntsiki Mazwai, a part of the Feela Sistah! Poetry Collective formed in 2003, launched her debut poetry collection Wena at the Jozi Book Fair on Saturday:

Ntsiki Mazwai, the poet who first became famous as part of Feela Sista Poetry Collective five years ago, has scored a solo achievement this time around.

Mazwai has published her debut volume of poetry book under the cheeky title Wena. It will be launched during the Jozi Book Fair that runs from Saturday to Monday at MuseumAfrica, Johannesburg.

The anthology is long-awaited. All along she has recited her poetry while fellow poets in the collective, such as Lebo Mashile, Napo Masheane and Myesha Jenkins, have long published their poetry. The anthology, which retails for R145, is sure to raise eyebrows among Mazwai’s peers since it deals with youth identity issues in a democratic South Africa.
