The Guardian‘s “Not the Booker Prize” 2011 Longlist
The “Not the Booker Prize” is the literary prize decided by Guardian readers who vote for the author they think deserves “the most coveted mug in British letters”.
This year’s longlist features some locally recognizable titles: Wall of Days by Alistair Bruce, The Hairdresser of Harare by Tendia Huchu, Mr Fox by Helen Oyeyemi, Open City by Teju Cole, History of a Pleasure Seeker by Richard Mason, Anatomy of Disappearance by Hisham Matar and Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman. Of these, Pigeon English has also been longlisted for the 2011 Man Booker Prize.
You have one week to help whittle down the lengthy longlist by writing a review for your chosen book in 150 words or more. The six books with the most votes will appear on the “Not the Booker Prize” shortlist.
