Alex Smith Wins Nielsen Booksellers’ Choice Award for Four Drunk Beauties

Four Drunk BeautiesAlert! Books LIVE member, Alex Smith, has trumped a stellar shortlist to win the Nielsen Booksellers’ Choice Award 2010/2011. Smith takes home the R10 000 prize for her novel, Four Drunk Beauties, a story about an Iranian prisoner named Kamaal, who tells fellow inmate and insurgent Drew the story of four drunk beauties.

The winner of the 2009 Bookseller’s Choice Award went to Peter Harris, for In a Different Time.
