Shortlist for 2011/2012 Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature Announced

We are pleased to see Books LIVE member Maya Fowler among the finalists in the English category. Derick van der Walt, who won silver in the Afrikaans category at the previous Sanlam Youth Literature Awards and Motimele Goodwill, past silver winner in the African languages category, have both made the shortlist a second time. Other published authors on the list include Jenny Robson, Jayne Bauling, Nelia Engelbrecht and Kabelo Duncan Kgatea.
A gold prize of R12 000 and silver prize of R6 000 is at stake in each of the three categories – English, Afrikaans and African languages. The winners will be announced at a function in Johannesburg in October this year and the prize-winning books will be available in bookshops and in eBook format thereafter.
