Keineetse Keineetse Reviews Head on Fire by Lesego Rampolokeng

Head on Fire: Rants / Notes / Poems 2001-2011Verdict: carrot

South Africa’s Lesego Rampolokeng, who recently held audience spellbound in Gaborone’s main mall, is a poet we may choose to ignore only at our own peril. In an anthology of poetry he calls ‘rants, notes and poems’ Rampolokeng has thrown the spanner into the works, with difficult poetry for both lay readers and so-called critical reviewers alike. The compilation written over a 10 year period stretching (2001-2011) is noisy and persistent. This collection is Rampolokeng’s latest offer of poetry which the author has summed up in one of his poems as WORD-SOUND-POWER.
