Guardian Online Presents Slideshow of the 10 Best Contemporary African Books
The Guardian Online has released a slideshow of a list of the 10 best contemporary African books, as chosen by Granta Deputy Editor, Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, and published in the Observer on Sunday.
The list features, among other beautiful titles, fiction by Books LIVE members Lauren Beukes (Zoo City) and Aminatta Forna (The Memory of Love), as well as a graphic novel adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, David Adjaye’s comprehensive African Metropolitan Architecture and Donna Jo Napoli’s tribute to Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, Mama Miti.
