Sifiso Mzobe Wins the 2012 Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature for Young Blood
Alert! Sifiso Mzobe has won the 2012 Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature for his debut novel, Young Blood, which was published in 2010 by NB Publishers. Mzobe will receive $20 000 in prize money from award organisers, The Lumina Foundation.
The awards ceremony, held on 8 September in Lagos, saw Young Blood trump the shortlist of three, including The Unseen Leopard by Bridget Pitt and Roses and Bullets by Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo.
Mzobe attended the ceremony and tweeted his exciting news the following day:

Young Blood also won the 2011 Sunday Times Fiction Prize and the Herman Charles Bosman Prize for English literature at last year’s Media24 Books Literary Awards.
