Michele Magwood Reviews Love, Sex, Fleas, God by Bruce Clark

Love, Sex, Fleas, God: Confessions of a stay-at-home dadVerdict: carrot

This book is less a parenting memoir than an astounding survival story. Johannesburg father Bruce Clark was raised in a Scientology family, or rather, barely raised at all. By the time he was in Grade 7 he had attended 17 schools around the country, never staying long enough to gather a proper education, and bullied and humiliated when he tried. His grandmother did her best to provide him with a home while his mother vanished into the deeply sinister world of Scientology. At times Clark joined her on the bizarre “Sea Org” ships, but the experience was brutal.
