Jozi Book Fair 2012 Programme

Alert! The programme for the fourth annual Jozi Book Fair has been released. The festival will be held this weekend from 27-28 October at Museum Africa in Newtown and will be preceded by a day long conference focusing on adult literacy. The festival, which costs R10 a day, is run by Khanya College, an NGO focused on education for liberation.

There will be round table discussions, workshops and book launches, as well as a publishers exhibiting at the book fair. Some of the highlights include Lauretta Ngcobo, editor of Prodigal Daughters: Stories of South African Women in Exile, and Nomboniso Gasa, editor of Women in South African History, who will be discussing women in literature and society. Andile Mngxitama, co-editor of Biko Lives!: Contesting the Legacies of Steve Biko, will be part of a discussion about freedom of expression in relation to The Spear and President Jacob Zuma.

Also keep an eye out for Patrick Bond, author of Politics of Climate Justice: Paralysis Above, Movement Below and Moky Makura, editor of South Africa’s Greatest Entrepreneurs, who will be participating.
