Winners of the 2012 Golden Boabab Prize Announced

Alert! The winners of the 2012 Golden Boabab Prize have been announced. The prize accepts entries of unpublished stories written by African citizens in either the junior (for readers aged 8-11 years) or senior (for readers aged 12-15 years) category. Last year’s prizes were swept up by South African writers but this year the rest of the continent has upped their game with the three winners coming from Nigeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The senior category was won by Nigeria’s Joy Nwiyi for her story Something for Next Time, while Jenny Robson from South Africa’s story Wha-up Dude? won the junior category. Rutendo Chabikwa from Zimbabwe was awarded the Rising Writer prize for A Healing Adventure & Letters from the City.

Congratulations to the winners!
