Zukiswa Wanner and Doreen Baingana to Facilitate the 4th FEMRITE Regional Women Writers’ Residence
Uganda Women Writers’ Association, FEMRITE, has announced that Zukiswa Wanner and Doreen Baingana will be facilitating the 4th FEMRITE Regional Women Writers’ Residence, which will be held in Buziga, Kampala from 13-25 January.
Wanner is the South African author of Behind Every Successful Man, The Madams and Men of the South. Baingana is an award-winning Ugandan short story writer. Her book Tropical Fish: Tales from Entebbe won the 2006 Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for best first book in the Africa category as well as an AWP Short Fiction Award.
The 2013 FEMRITE residency is set to be facilitated by two of Africa’s leading writers Zukiswa Wanner and Doreen Baingana.
Zukiswa Wanner is a South African writer, born in Lusaka, Zambia to a South African father and a Zimbabwean mother. After receiving primary and secondary education in Zimbabwe, she studied for a degree in journalism at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, USA and has written for a range of South African newspapers and magazines and The Guardian.
