Fiona Snyckers Talks to Jassy Mackenzie, Helen Moffett and Paige Nick About Writing Erotica

In the same week that Folly by Jassy Mackenzie, was launched, there was also the news that Paige Nick, Helen Moffett and Sarah Lotz had signed a deal with the help of London agent Oliver Munson, for a “choose your own adventure” erotica series under the pseudonym Helena S Paige.

FollyTrinity On AirTooth and NailedThis Way UpStrange Fruit

Fiona Snyckers, author of the Trinity series, talked to Nick, Mackenzie and Moffett about the process of writing erotic fiction, commenting that “women’s increased comfort with their own sexuality as a significant poke in the eye to patriarchy, and something to be celebrated rather than shamed back into hiding.”

Talking to the authors, who seem to have a fresh take on the erotica genre, Snyckers found some common themes:

In the same week that South Africa’s first mainstream erotic novel for women hit shelves, a major publishing deal was announced that is poised to take local erotica worldwide.

There are those who chose to link these two events with the horrific rape and murder of Anene Booysen — the implication being that women’s erotic expression is somehow connected to the culture of sexual violence in this country.
