A resident of Botswana, Lauri Kubuitsile has drawn on her knowledge and experience of the place and its people in her collection, In the Spirit of McPhineas Lata and Other Stories.
While the stories are essentially written with a light, humorous touch, one very short piece, “A Memory of Mother”, serious and more lyrical, indicates that Kubuitsile may have a wider range of mood and style than is suggested by most of the work in this publication.
