Yewande Omotoso Participating in the Ebedi International Writers Residency 2013


Bom BoyYewande Omotoso, author of the award-winning Bom Boy has been invited to join a writer’s residency programme in Iseyin, in the Nigerian state of Oyo. At the Ebedi International Writers Residency she plans on completing her second novel, Your House is on Fire.

The residency, an initiative to enable writers to complete their literary works in a conducive environment, runs from March to April and it is the first time the residency has hosted four female writers. The other writers participating in the residency include Ugandan writer Agiresaasi Apophia and Nigerians Rukayat Olaleye and Ayodele Olofintuade. The Nigerian Tribune has an article on the residency:

For the first time in its history, the Ebedi International Writers Residency is hosting four writers at once.

South Africa-based Yewande Omotoso; Ugandan, Agiresaasi Apophia; Rukayat Olaleye, a teacher; and Ayodele Olofintuade, who got honourable mention in the 2011 Nigeria Prize for Literature, have since commenced the March-April 2013 programme in Iseyin, Oyo State.
