Publishing Race: Darryl Accone Examines Three Forthcoming Oscar Pistorius Books

Three South African publishers have recently announced that they will each be publishing a book on the murder case against Oscar Pistorius, following the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, as soon as the trial is concluded.

No More HeroesKilling KebbleInvictus

In an article for the Mail & Guardian, Darryl Accone wonders who will win the “race to relay the Oscar Pistorius story”: Killing Kebble author Mandy Wiener and Barry Bateman’s Behind The Door: The Oscar and Reeva Story, which will be published by Pan Macmillan, No More Heroes: Oscar Pistorius’s Fall from Grace by Jacques Steenkamp and Gavin Prins (Zebra Press) or Invictus author John Carlin’s The Oscar Pistorius Story (Penguin Books):

The subject of this research-and-write-up contest is Oscar Pistorius. And that deadline is as soon after the conclusion of his murder trial as possible.

First out of the starting block were radio journalists Mandy Wiener and Barry Bateman, who contracted with Pan Macmillan to write Behind the Door: The Oscar and Reeva Story.
