Diane Awerbuck and Matthew Blackman Among Silver Winners of the National Arts Festival / BASA Arts Journalism Awards

Home RemediesIn the Same SpaceAlert! The National Arts Festival has announced the Silver Winners of the Arts Journalism Awards they present along with Business and Arts South Africa (BASA).

The winners include arts writers in the categories Reviews, Features, Opinions and Photography who received above 80% from the judges. National Arts Festival CEO Tony Lankester commented that arts journalists “are a vital part of the industry, offering criticism, context and insight into the work our artists do”.

Books LIVE members Diane Awerbuck and Matthew Blackman were among the winners, both in the Reviews section, while Chris Thurman was the convenor of the judges.

The Gold Winners and the overall Arts Journalist of the Year will be annouced in Grahamstown on 30 June. The overall winner will be sent to report on the Amsterdam Fringe, Adelaide Fringe or the Venice Biennale, depending on their preference.

The finalists in the inaugural National Arts Festival/Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Arts Journalism Awards have been announced.

Each finalist is a “Silver Award” winner. Gold Award winners, together with the overall “Arts Journalist of the Year”, will be announced in Grahamstown on 30 June 2013.
