Environmentalist Ian Player needs little introduction in South Africa, and is famous in certain world circles. He is probably best known as the man who saved the white rhino in the 1960s, and now the rhino (both white and black) is again under threat.
It looks very much as though the predictions that South Africa will lose more than 600 to poachers this year — a remarkable figure when the average annual loss was about 15 as recently as the first decade of this millennium — will come true.
