Marli Roode and Majok Tulba Longlisted for the 2013 Dylan Thomas Prize

Alert! South African-born writer Marli Roode’s Call it Dog and South Sudanese author Majok Tulba’s Beneath the Darkening Sky have made the longlist for the 2013 University of Wales Dylan Thomas Prize.

This year’s list of twelve features eight novels, three poetry works and, for the first time in the Prize’s history, a play, No Quarter by Polly Stenham. Nine of the longlisted titles are debut works, as the Dylan Thomas Prize aims to encourage new writers. The longlisted authors will compete for the £30,000 prize, the winner of which will be announced in November.

The Dylan Thomas Prize today (08.08.13) announced its longlist for its 2013 award with a playwright featuring for the first time in the Prize’s history.

This year’s longlist recognises authors from across the globe, from Australia to South Sudan, and features eight novels, three poetry works and a play.
