Shortlists Announced for the 2013 M-Net Literary Awards Debut Prize and Film Award

Alert! The shortlists for the Film and Debut categories of the M-Net Literary Awards have been announced. The shortlists for the English, Afrikaans and African Languages categories were announced earlier this month.

Last year’s Film Award, which goes to a book that shows the potential to be developed into a screenplay, was won by Deon Meyer’s 7 Dae. This year Books LIVE members Andrew Brown and Steven Boykey Sidley are going up against Sabata-Mpho Mokae, Karin Brynard, July Innocent Mtsweni and Louis de Villiers.

This is the first year that M-Net is awarding a prize for debut novels and Books LIVE member André Krüger is going up against James Whyle, SJ Gambu, Louis de Villiers, Siphamandla Clement Mathaba and Karen Jayes for the inaugural award.
