Lauren Beukes, Ron Irwin, Helen Moffett, Angela Makholwa and Finuala Dowling to Present “Writers Researching” Course

As part of the University of Cape Town’s Summer School programme, Lauren Beukes, Ron Irwin, Helen Moffett, Angela Makholwa and Finuala Dowling will present a course titled “Writers Researching: Fact and Fiction”. From 27 – 31 January 2014, the writers will discuss the research they did for their latest novels.

Irwin will talk about Flat Water Tuesday in his lecture “Turning life into fiction”, Moffett will discuss her role as co-author of A Girl Walks into a Bar in “Fifty ways to blush: researching erotica”, Beukes will present the lecture “Kinking reality: re-imagining our world” about The Shining Girls, Makholwa will reveal her research methods for Black Widow Society in “Friends in confined spaces: getting under the skin of a murderer”, and Dowling will discuss “Miranda warnings” and Homemaking for the Down-at-heart.

You can attend the entire course for R375 per person. UCT staff members pay R186 and UCT students can attend at the reduced rate of R94.
