Link Love: Digital Publishing House Wordsmack Specialises in African Speculative Fiction

Wordsmack is a relatively new addition to the South African digital publishing scene and it specialises in African speculative fiction. Founded by Leani Wessels and Louise Cosgrave, Wordsmack has published three titles so far: Idea War: Volume 1 by Abi Godsell, The Folds: Miss Universe by Mico Pisanti and Charles Cilliers’ short, A Grain of Sand.

Not sure if your book fits the bill? Here’s their definition: “speculative fiction includes the following genres we’re specifically interested in: fantastical fiction genres like science fiction, fantasy, horror, weird fiction, supernatural fiction, superhero fiction, utopian and dystopian fiction, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction.”

Wordsmack accepts short stories, novellas and novels on a year-long submissions basis.

You’ll be published on digital platforms like Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, Barnes and Noble and Kalahari, making your work relevant to a digital audience.
