The Shining Girls was chosen from a shortlist of six titles, including William Boyd’s Solo, Thomas H Cook’s Sandrine’s Case, Craig Johnson’s A Serpent’s Tooth, Stuart Neville’s Ratlines and The Double by George Pelecanos.

This is the fourth award the book has won, following the Exclusive Books Book of the Year: Reader’s Choice Award, RT Book Awards Best Suspense Thriller and the 2013/2014 University of Johannesburg Prizes for South African Writing in English. It is also up for a British Fantasy Award, to be announced in September.
