Obinna Udenwe Reviews The Thunder That Roars by Imran Garda

The Thunder That RoarsVerdict: carrot

‘The Thunder That Roars’ is a carefully written story about the lives of migrants all over the world. We learn that human suffering never ends and that the strife to make ends meet forces people to leave their homes to faraway places – places of uncertainty. In 2013 I watched CNN report the capsizing of boats ferrying people from African countries to Lampedusa – people seeking safety in Europe but never made it to their presumed ‘haven’. Imran Garda captures this more surreally.

‘The Thunder That Roars’ deserves the position it got in the Etisalat Prize for African Literature’s longlist.
