Celebrate Heritage Day at the Ramsgate Literary Festival in KwaZulu-Natal (24 – 25 September 2015)

Invitation to the 2015 Ramsgate Literary Festival

 
The beautiful coastal town of Ramsgate in KwaZulu-Natal will soon play host to a range of authors and avid readers.

The 2015 Ramsgate Literary Festival is taking place on Thursday, 24 September, and Friday, 25 September. Events on the first day will start at 10 AM and the second day will kick off at 9 AM sharp.

Professor Lindy Stiebel from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and co-editor of Still Beating the Drum: Critical Perspectives on Lewis Nkosi will open the festival on Thursday at 10 AM with her talk on “KZN Literary Tourism and the South Coast Writers’ Trail”.

The opening will be followed by a talk on why it is important to record local history by Ruth Fifield, author of The Postmaster’s Mistress.

At 5 PM, guests will enjoy sundowners on the Blue Lagoon Deck and sample a new cocktail, aptly named “Paton’s Pride”. The first day will come to an end with a Poetry by Candlelight session at The Burlesque Café.

There will also be Poi and street fire dancing, medieval wine tasting, exhibitions, rare collections of first editions of books and various markets and book sales on the agenda.

On the second day, there will be a tribute to Alan Paton at the Little Billy Beach Grass Park, more wine tastings and the Ramsgate Quiz Night at The Ramsgate Village Hall.

Authors to look out for include Ron Lock, who will be launching his new book Tales of the Old East Coast: From Zululand to the Cape; Peter Browne, author of Van Gogh’s Curse; author of Salt Water Runs in My Veins Prithiraj Ramkisun Dullay, and many more.
